Today I spent most of the day drawing the head and the pencil, the two main center pieces of the... uh... piece. I really like the blending of the colors here. Yesterday I was unsure if I could blend the colors well in the final piece. I seemed to of pulled it off though. The technique I used starts with putting down two colors I want to blend on opposite sides then going over them with one of the colors. The way I explain it makes it seem hard to follow but don't worry, I think I've gotten the trick down. This technique also allows more solid colors, giving the soft pastels more of a "paint-y" look than like crayons (maybe it could be the type of paper?). Tomorrow I will probably spend planning the hands that will hold the pencil along with where specifically they will go in relation to said pencil. I'm not too good at drawing "realistic" body parts so hopefully everything runs smoothly tomorrow. Of course if it doesn't I can always retry and re-cut on another piece of paper.
Another problem I have is starting these blog posts too early. Last time I was justified as Weebly kicked me out as I was publishing the blog post so I had to retype it. This time however, I was finished with the posts ten minutes before the end of the work session. I'll try to give myself more work time tomorrow.
